16 anni fa, il 2 aprile del 2005, il Santo Papa Giovanni Paolo II è richiamato a Dio.

Vogliamo ricordarlo con le parole del suo primo messaggio Urbi et Orbi ( S.Pasqua 15 aprile 1979)

DI SUA SANTITÀ GIOVANNI PAOLO II

Domenica di Pasqua, 15 aprile 1979

1. “Resurrexit tertia die . . .”. Il terzo giorno è risuscitato . . .

Oggi, insieme con tutta la Chiesa, noi ripetiamo queste parole con una particolare emozione. Le ripetiamo con la stessa fede, con la quale – proprio in questo giorno – furono pronunciate per la prima volta. Le pronunciamo con la stessa certezza, che hanno messo in questa frase i testimoni oculari dell’evento. La nostra fede proviene dalla loro testimonianza, e la testimonianza è nata dalla visione, dall’ascolto, dall’incontro diretto, dal tocco delle mani, dei piedi e del costato trafitti.

La testimonianza è nata dal Fatto; sì, il terzo giorno Cristo è risuscitato. Oggi ripetiamo queste parole con tutta semplicità, perché esse provengono dagli uomini semplici. Esse provengono dai cuori che amano e che hanno così amato Cristo, da esser capaci di trasmettere e di predicare niente altro che la verità su di lui: “Crucifixus sub Pontio Pilato, passus et sepultus est”: Fu Crocifisso per noi sotto Ponzio Pilato, morì e fu sepolto.

Così suonano le parole di questa testimonianza. E con la stessa semplicità della verità continuano a proclamare: “et resurrexit tertia die”: e il terzo giorno è risuscitato.

Questa verità, sulla quale, come su “pietra angolare” (cf. Ef 2, 20) si basa tutta la costruzione della nostra fede, vogliamo oggi di nuovo condividerla tra noi, reciprocamente, come pienezza del Vangelo, noi: confessori di Cristo, noi cristiani, noi Chiesa. E, nello stesso tempo, vogliamo condividerla con tutti coloro che ci ascoltano, con tutti gli uomini di buona volontà.

Noi la condividiamo nella gioia, perché come potremmo non esultare di gioia per la vittoria della Vita sulla Morte? “Mors et vita duello conflixere mirando! Dux vitae, mortuus, regnat vivus!”: “Il Signore della vita era morto; ma ora, vivo trionfa” (Sequenza di Pasqua).

2. Come non rallegrarsi della vittoria di questo Cristo, che passò per il mondo beneficando tutti (cf. At 10, 38) e predicando il Vangelo del Regno (cf. Mt 4, 24), in cui si è espressa tutta la pienezza della bontà redentrice di Dio? In essa l’uomo è stato chiamato alla più grande dignità.

Come non rallegrarsi della vittoria di Colui, che così ingiustamente è stato condannato alla passione più terribile e alla morte sulla Croce; della vittoria di Colui che prima è stato flagellato, schiaffeggiato, imbrattato di sputi, con tanta inumana crudeltà?

Come non rallegrarsi della rivelazione della potenza di Dio solo, della vittoria di questa potenza sul peccato e sull’accecamento degli uomini?

Come non rallegrarsi della vittoria che riporta definitivamente il bene sul male?

Ecco il Giorno che ha fatto il Signore!

Ecco il Giorno dell’universale speranza. Il Giorno in cui intorno al Risorto si uniscono e si associano tutte le sofferenze umane, le delusioni, le umiliazioni, le croci, la dignità umana violata, la vita umana non rispettata, l’oppressione, la costrizione, tutte cose che gridano a voce alta: “Victimae paschali laudes immolent christiani” (“Alla vittima pasquale s’innalzi oggi il sacrificio di lode”).

Il Risorto non si allontana da noi; il Risorto ritorna a noi:
“Ora andate, dite ai suoi discepoli e a Pietro che egli vi precede . . .” (Mc 16, 7). Egli viene ovunque, dove i più lo aspettano, dove più grande è la tristezza e lo spavento, dove più grandi sono la sfortuna e le lacrime. Egli viene per irradiare la luce della risurrezione su tutto ciò che è sottoposto al buio del peccato e della morte.

3. Entrando nel Cenacolo a porte chiuse, Cristo risorto saluta i suoi discepoli ivi riuniti con le parole: “Pace a voi” (Gv 20, 19).

Questa è la prima parola nel suo messaggio pasquale.

Quanto è grande il bene in questa pace che egli ci dà, e che il mondo non può dare (cf. Gv 14, 27)! Quanto è strettamente legata alla sua venuta e alla sua missione!

Quanto è necessaria per il mondo la sua presenza, la vittoria del suo Spirito, l’ordine proveniente dal suo comandamento dell’amore, affinché gli uomini, le famiglie, le nazioni, i continenti possano godere la pace.

Oggi questo saluto del Risorto, espresso agli Apostoli nel cenacolo di Gerusalemme, noi vogliamo ripetere da questo luogo, ed indirizzarlo ovunque esso è particolarmente attuale e particolarmente atteso.

Pace a voi, popoli del Medio Oriente.

Pace a voi, popoli dell’Africa.

Pace a voi, popoli e Paesi dell’Asia.

Pace a voi, Fratelli e Sorelle dell’America Latina.

E pace a voi, popoli che vivete nei diversi sistemi sociali, economici e politici!

Pace! Come frutto del fondamentale ordine; come espressione del rispetto del diritto alla vita, alla verità, alla libertà, alla giustizia e all’amore di ogni uomo.

Pace delle coscienze e pace dei cuori. Questa pace non potrà aversi sino a che ciascuno di noi non avrà la consapevolezza di fare quanto è in suo potere perché a tutti gli uomini – fratelli di Cristo, da lui amati sino alla morte – sia assicurata dal primo momento della loro esistenza una vita degna dei figli di Dio. Penso in questo momento in particolare a quanti soffrono per la mancanza anche dello stretto necessario per sopravvivere, a quanti soffrono per la fame, e soprattutto ai più piccoli che – nella loro debolezza – di Cristo sono i prediletti e ai quali è dedicato, quest’anno, l’Anno internazionale del fanciullo.

Possa il Cristo Risorto ispirare a tutti, cristiani e non cristiani, sentimenti di solidarietà e di amore generoso verso tutti i nostri fratelli che si trovano nel bisogno.

4. “Surrexit Christus, spes mea!”.

O cari Fratelli e Sorelle! Come è per noi eloquente questo Giorno, che parla con tutta la verità della nostra origine. Pietra angolare di tutta la nostra costruzione e lo stesso Cristo Gesù (cf. Ef 2, 20-21). Questa pietra, scartata dai costruttori, che Dio ha irradiato con la luce della risurrezione, si trova posta al fondamento stesso della nostra fede, della nostra speranza e della nostra carità.

Essa è la prima ragione della nostra vocazione e della missione che ognuno di noi riceve già nel Battesimo.

Oggi desideriamo scoprire di nuovo questa vocazione, assumere di nuovo in proprio questa missione. Desideriamo farla penetrare di nuovo dalla gioia della risurrezione. Desideriamo riavvicinarla a tutti gli uomini, a coloro che sono vicini e a quelli che sono lontani.

Condividiamo reciprocamente gli uni con gli altri questa gioia. Condividiamola con gli Apostoli, con le Donne che per prime portarono l’annuncio della Risurrezione. Uniamoci a Maria. “Regina caeli, laetare!”.

L’uomo non può mai perdere la speranza nella vittoria del bene. Questo giorno diventi oggi per noi l’esordio della nuova speranza.
